The term BLOG date back to the 1990s which were the early day where real writing happened.

Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called “blogging”. Individual articles on a blog are called “blog posts,” “posts” or “entries”. A person who posts these entries is called a “blogger”. A blog comprises text, hypertext, images, and links (to other web pages and to video, audio and other files). Blogs use a conversational style of documentation. Often blogs focus on a particular “area of interest”, such as Home Income, CashCrate. While some blogs discuss personal experiences.' Source.
The best way to break into the business of writing for a living is always to, "Start a blog." Before you start a new blog, it's essential that you define your goals for it. Your blog has a greater chance of success if you know from the beginning what you hope to accomplish with it. Also this has to do with your interest. You can't Blog about something you don't have good knowledge about, that's an easy way to failure. Therefore, find something you're passionate about— its can be music, poem, travel, fashion, video games, cooking, whatever— then use the blog to prove 1) you can write and 2) you can write regularly. Once you know your passion, then it will be quite fun and easy expressing your thoughts on your blog. Then you need to create a Blog. I presently use Blogger.com. But there are several websites that you can signup, such as: WordPress.com, StumbleUpon.com etc and its free. But you can decide to go for a paid one which you will need a Domain name and Hosting company. Its doesn't cost much, but if you are a newbie then i suggest you stick to the free ones.
In blogging unique content is the king. I will advice that you write unique content that will make the readers come back for more information. There making you a reference point on such topic. This will enable you build your presence, traffic and have good ranking on search engines (Google).
